Are you monitoring the assets your court has under conservatorship (or guardianship)? Do you know the value of those assets? In Minnesota we have over $700,000,000 in assets under court jurisdiction for conservatorship cases. The True Link Report on Elder Financial Abuse, released in January 2015, revealed that each year $36.48 billion is lost to elder financial abuse. To improve the oversight of our assets, Minnesota has taken a two-pronged approach: electronic reporting and regular audits of accounts.
MyMNConservator (MMC) is a Web application used by Minnesota conservators to file their inventory and annual accounts. With the assistance of a State Justice Institute grant, the Minnesota Judicial Branch Conservator Account Auditing Program developed the robust application to replace CAMPER (Conservator Account Monitoring Preparation and Electronic Reporting). Minnesota conservators have been using the MMC application since April 2014. Features include integration with court case management software, easy entry for detailed conservator account filing, monitoring features, exam and audit queues, and red-flag logic.
Minnesota will provide the source code for this application free of charge to other courts. This session will provide an overview of the application and how it is used by Minnesota conservators to file their accounting of assets with the court.
There is no cost for this session, and lunch will be provided.
